Mussoorie Hill Station
The Mall:
The Mall Road is one of the most crowded
places of Mussoorie. The structure of the road takes you back to the
colonial period of Britishers. There are numerous restaurants, hotels
and shops on this road. The Methodist church is situated on the Mall and
is around 100 years old.
Kempty Fall:
15 kms from Mussoorie on the Yamunotri
Road having an altitude of 4500 ft. It has the distinction of being the
biggest and prettiest waterfall located in a beautiful valley and is
surrounded by high mountains. Bath at the foot of the falls is
refresshing and enjoyabled for children and adults alike.
A hot favourite of honeymooners, Mussoorie
is one of the most visited hill stations in the state of Uttarakhand as
well as in India. The hill station came to be known when back in 1827, a
British military officer named Captain Young discovered the fascinating
beauty of the place. He explored the whole area and laid the foundation
of a place which is today one of the finest hill stations in northern
India, equally liked both by locals and foreign travellers.
Mussoorie Lake:
Mussoorie Lake is a newly developed
picnic spot built by City Board. It is situated kms before Mussoorie on
Mussoorie Dehradun road. The lake offers pedaled boating facilities
along with offers fascinating view of Doon Valley and nearby villages.
Gun Hill:
Gun Hill is situated 400mts above The
Mall and it is the second highest peak of Mussoorie. Gun Hill is set at
an elevation of 2122mts and it offers a beautiful panoramic view of the
mighty Himalayan ranges and Doon valley. Before independence a Gun
mounted on this top used to be fired at mid-day for people to adjust
their watches. Presently Gun Hill houses the water reservoir
ofMussoorie. It can be reached by the Ropeway ride whose distance is
400mts or by the bridle path which forks-off from Kutchery which takes
around 20min.
Prakeshwar Temple:
A famous Temple of Lord Shiva is an ideal spot. The view of Doon Valley is simply exhilarating.
Sehashtradhara:
The travel to Dehradun cannot complete
without visiting Sahastradhara, the exotic picnic spot in Dehradun. The
name Sahastradhara literally means ‘the thousandfold spring’ that flow
down the beautiful green hills in the valley. The Baldi river and its
springs attracts thousands of visitors not only from India but around
the world. Also do not forget to take your camera to take beautiful
photos of Sahastradhara to keep it as a rememberance for lifetime!
Lachhiwala:
Lachiwala is situated in the suburbs of
the city of Dehradun where fresh water comes from a stream. At
Lachiwala the stream enters into different pools which are spread over
700mts of area. The water level is from 4ft height to 7ft in different
pools.
Clock Tower, Rajpur Road (Rajpur and Gandhi Roads crossing):
Built by the British, this remains the icon of the downtown area.
